Observe Our National Day of Service by celebrating your health!
September 10, 2009Friends,
I'm observing this day of service and my own recovery from eating disorders by giving blood at my local hospital. For years I could not give blood because I did not meet the weight threshold. My anorexia deprived me of the ability to give this vital gift to others. Since I have started giving blood, I am struck by the ease and gratitude I feel in sharing this life-giving substance with those in desperate need. The simple process costs me nothing but a bit of time, and as I look around the donation center at other donors, I am reminded just how precious our lives are, how much we depend on each other, and the true value of health.
Please join me by finding an opportunity for service in your area tomorrow, or in the days to come.
